Red Hills CIC - March 9- 11 , 2007

Dear All,

Just wanted to share some news. I bought a new horse called Extravagance last year. He is a beautiful Australian Thoroughbred. We have just returned after spending eight productive weeks training in Florida with David O'Connor and Buck Davidson. I was also very fortunate to have one of the best equine massage therapists and accupuncturists, Don Dorran work on him.

We placed fourth at our first advance at Rockinghorse and then this weekend I entered him in the CIC Three Star at Redhills. He did a super dressage test, the best he has done so far which put us in first place. This was the one of the toughest cross country courses I have ridden, second to the World Equestrian Games in Spain. Red Hills is known to have technical jumps at maximum height and spread over tough terrain.

Extravagance was a true star and completed the course clean and was the second fastest in his class. He was awesome to ride - fast quick and accurate. We were still in the lead going into showjumping but unfortunately he hit his hind leg on a fence in cross counrty and needed stiches so we had to pull out off the competition as under FEI rules no medication is allowed and I value him too much to have taken a chance and showjumped him the next day. Fortunately the vets feel he should be ready to go again after two weeks of stall rest.

He was a true champion and I have never been so close to winning an International Three Star Event. But that's the nature of our sport! I wanted to win more than anything in this world but if there is one thing that I have learnt is that no win is more important than your HORSE!
